Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently
Asked
Questions

1. What should I expect during my first session?

Your first session is all about getting to know you and your body’s unique needs. We’ll start with a short conversation to understand your goals, any areas of concern, and how you’d like to feel after the session. Whether it’s relief from tension, improved mobility, or just a chance to unwind, I’ll tailor the session to you. You’ll leave feeling relaxed, aligned, and cared for.

2. What should I wear to my session?

For massage treatments, you can undress to your comfort level—most clients prefer to wear undergarments. You’ll be covered with a sheet or towel throughout the session, with only the area being worked on exposed. For movement coaching, wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely.

3. How do I choose the right treatment for me?

If you’re unsure, that’s perfectly okay! During our initial chat, I’ll guide you toward the treatment that best suits your needs. For deep tension relief, Fascia & Trigger Point Release might be ideal. If you’re looking for relaxation, the Holistic Relaxation Massage could be your go-to.

4. Do you work with injuries or chronic pain?

Yes, many of my clients come to me for help with injury recovery or managing chronic pain. My approach is gentle yet effective, focusing on releasing tension and restoring movement while being mindful of your body’s limits. If you have specific concerns, please let me know in advance.

5. How often should I book a session?

This depends on your goals. For stress relief or relaxation, a session every 2-4 weeks works well. For chronic pain or ongoing issues, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may bring the best results. I’m happy to work with you to create a plan that fits your lifestyle and needs.

6. Is this covered by insurance?

Currently, sessions at Instinct Moves are not covered by insurance. However, many clients find the benefits—reduced stress, improved movement, and overall well-being—well worth the investment in their health.

7. What is movement coaching, and how does it differ from massage?

Movement coaching goes beyond massage by exploring how your body moves and feels in everyday life. It’s about addressing habits, posture, and mobility issues to create lasting change. Think of it as combining therapeutic touch with guided movement to help you feel better long after the session ends.

8. Do I need to prepare anything before my session?

Not at all! Just bring yourself and an open mind. If it’s your first session, arriving 10 minutes early helps ensure we have time to discuss your needs and preferences. For movement coaching, bring comfortable clothes and any questions you may have about your body’s movement.

9. Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Life happens—I get it! If you need to reschedule or cancel, please do so at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. This allows me to offer your spot to someone else who might need it.

10. What if I fall asleep during the massage?

That’s completely normal! Many clients drift off during a session—it’s a sign that your body is relaxing and letting go of stress. I’ll make sure to adjust the session as needed to ensure you get the full benefit, whether you’re awake or dreaming.
